Fairmont S-2 Motorcar from Pecos Valley Southern 6/12/08

This Fairmont Railways Motorcar was recently acquired with permission from a junk pile at the Pecos Valley Southern in Pecos, TX.  This car is unique in that it has an RQD engine and belt drive, but there is a transmission with final chain drive to the rear axle.  The engine would run "backwards" to run the car in the forward direction.  The transmission is two speeds forward, with no reverse gear.  To reverse the car, the engine would be run "forward" and the transmission would propel the car in reverse.  Current plans for the car include a full frame up restoration at an unscheduled time in the future.  See additional comments on the individual image pages below.
