Plasser-American Tamper built 1977
8/27/2008

This vintage 1977 Plasser-American tamper was in running condition when it was pulled into an unused siding and shutdown some ten to twelve years ago. It was originally delivered to ConRail. As renovation to the rail line in the area where it was stored approached, the owners had to finally decide the machine's fate. It has been saved from almost certain scrap through a purchase. The machine has been relocated to a new siding where restoration efforts are just now beginning. The initial plans are to return the machine to full original operational function. Once restored, the machine may become available for "lease" or may be available to help museums or other budget constrained rail oriented facilities perform track work. Check back over time, and I'll update the restoration progress on these pages.
