Arkansas Oklahoma Railroad Motorcar Run
NARCOA trip sponsored by: Oklahoma Railway Museum in Oklahoma City, OK
April 12, 2008 - McAlester to Red Oak, OK - 86 miles

The weather for this spring motorcar trip could not have been better.  The morning low was mid 40's, but warmed quickly once the sun cracked the horizon.  High temp for the day was around 70, with a firm breeze.  A jacket was required for most of the day, but it was very pleasant.

Twelve motorcars and three high-rail vehicles set out on a run on the Arkansas Oklahoma Railroad.  Our se-ton point was McAlester, Oklahoma with original plans to run east to Wister, OK.  President and CEO of the A-OK Railroad David Donoley greeted us at the set-on point and was excited to have this group on his railroad. We were able to run a total of 86 miles this day.  We had to turn at Red Oak instead of farther east at Wister due to operational needs of the railroad.

For the casual observer, fourteen of the best images from the run are presented here. For those brave enough to take the photographic journey of this trip from your computer, the remainder of the images from the trip are available through links from this page.

Hope you enjoy the trip as much as I did. A big thank you to Drake Rice and the Oklahoma Railroad Museum for organizing this trip. And a hearty thank you to Mr. Donoley and the A-OK Railroad for hosting this motorcar trip on their railroad.
