Early weather reports for this motorcar run suggested lows
in the mid 30's and highs in the upper 40's. The harsh reality
on Saturday morning Jan. 19, 2008 was 11 degrees at set-on time.
The high for the day did not make it past 32 degrees.
Eight motorcars and three high-rail vehicles were hearty enough
to weather the cold for a long run on the Farmrail Railroad.
The cold was a challenge for the vehicles and the people operating
them. Sunday was a warmer day and more along the lines of the
original temperature predictions.
For the casual observer, twenty of the best images from the
two day run are presented here. For those brave enough to take
the photographic journey of this trip from your computer, the
remainder of the images from the trip are available through links
from this page.
Hope you enjoy the trip as much as I did. A big thank you
to Drake Rice and the Oklahoma Railroad Museum for organizing
this trip. And a thank you is not near enough to show my appreciation
to Farmrail Railroad for allowing this motorcar trip on their
railroad. Hopefully we can do this again on a day when the weather
is not quite as extreme! |
