This car, a Fairmont S-2, was purchased in September 1998 at a cost of $125.00. Car was purchased from an individual near Mineola, Texas. He purchased the car from a friend who had purchased a number of cars from a Missouri Pacific auction at Marshall, Texas some years earlier. I came by the deal through a friend from work. I had been showing him photographs and describing my desire to own a car. He spotted the car in a field as he was driving by. He told me of the car and I pursued contact with the owner until the purchase was made.  Photo at right made in June 2004, when I pulled the car from storage to begin restoration efforts.
